Create The Scene - Advanced Scene Writing & Performance
This class is for serious acting students with prior experience at Gateway or other comparable programs. This is a four week intensive that is a spinoff of the popular scene writing class in the spring. During the first three weeks of this class, students will work with teacher and published writer Rachel Colson to write and create contemporary scenes based on their life experiences and life experiences of those around them. During the last week of class, the students will be cast in and rehearse the scenes for a guest director from our staff and culminate in a performance in our barn theatre during the final evening of class. The scenes will then be saved in our acting school library to be used by future acting classes, as applicable, for character and scene study and performance.
HOW TO APPLY: If interested, please have the student send a statement of interest, including past experience, and how this will help in life and further the studies of the arts via email to: [email protected]. Please write, “Scene Writing Class,” in the subject line. Please send all statements by July 27th, 2017. Students will be enrolled based on their statements and in the order by which they are received.
