Professional Experience For Future Careers

Gateway Playhouse is seeking dedicated and talented Apprentices to assist its professional staff full-time on our mainstage productions. Duration of apprenticeship is negotiable, preferably mid-May to late August.

Gateway offers an opportunity to gain practical stagecraft training and experience at Long Island 's oldest professional musical theater.

A summer at the Gateway is a rigorous and rewarding experience. A mix of industry professionals and entry-level technicians work together in all aspects of production. Selected candidates will work side by side with professionals from Broadway, Off-Broadway, touring companies and other regional theaters. Designers and directors are all active in the New York theater world, and the opportunities to network and advance one’s career abound.

Apprentices receive a stipend of $200-300/week, based on experience level, plus housing.
College Students and Local applicants are encouraged to apply.

ALL DEPARTMENT INFORMATION:
In addition to a weekly stipend, The Gateway provides housing for Apprentices, and will assist with travel to and from The Gateway. 
 
The Gateway Performing Arts Center of Suffolk County is in its 75th season. Located on the south shore of Long Island about 90 minutes from NYC, The Gateway PACSC performs both at our home theatre in Bellport, NY (housing is located on the property). Company management at The Gateway coordinates grocery trips for those who do not have a car, but a number of shopping options are available in Bellport village (about a 10 minute walk from our main property). 
 
The Gateway will help coordinate with your educational institution if you are eligible to receive college credit for your apprenticeship. 
 
The Gateway is operating on a year-round schedule.
