Since 2023, Modern Silent Shorts has commissioned exciting young directors to create new works of silent film that reexamine the medium’s original form. Over the past two years, we have been proud to screen these Silent Shorts at Mama Farm in partnership with The Gateway Playhouse, and this year we are especially excited to bring the Shorts directly to The Gateway Playhouse stage. This screening will feature seven films from Modern Silent Shorts, ranging from animation to horror to slapstick comedy. The program will be accompanied by live original orchestration performed by Greg Pease, Ryan Vinh, Athos Maelstrom, and composer Kevin Donald.
