Haunted House Improvisation Workshop
TEACHER: Michael Baker assisted by Rachel Armitstead

Want to have some scary haunt fun and learn the method behind the madness? Are you a haunt novice looking to learn new ideas or a veteran haunter looking to improve skills? Learn what it takes to be a successful improvisation actor in the setting of a Haunted House. This special workshop style class will be taught by Gateway’s Haunted Playhouse director, Michael Baker and assisted by Rachel Armitstead.

Together you will explore a formalized haunt improv method designed to examine character and the fundamentals to successful and consistent haunting. Students will work on character development and physicalization of ideas in a safe and fun atmosphere! We will explore the use of light makeup/fx and how it can enhance some characters while focusing on what it takes to have the actor entice, scare, and entertain the audience from scene to scene.

The class will culminate in an open presentation as students perform their scares for one another and an invited guest of their choice. The fee for this 3 part course is $125. Successful completion of this course satisfies the audition requirement to be cast in Gateway’s Haunted Playhouse. Additionally, students will receive one GODLEN TICKET to Gateway’s Haunted Playhouse - for use by one person, on any haunt night, this upcoming haunt season.

**Class space is limited and admittance is by approval only.
